Il primo grande (64 metri di diametro) radio telescopio orientabile è australiano, perché l’emisfero sud è orientato verso la regione centrale della nostra Via Lattea, con un’attività radio molto intensa. Questo strumento nel 1969 trasmise le immagini del primo sbarco sulla Luna, per la sua capacità di ricevere segnali deboli. Sullo sfondo è rappresentata la mappa radio di una stella pulsar. |
The first large (200 feet in diameter) orientable radio telescope is Australian, because the southern hemisphere is oriented towards the central region of our Milky Way, with very intense radio activity. This instrument in 1969 transmitted images of the first moon landing, due to its ability to receive weak signals. In the background is represented the radio map of a pulsar star. |
