L’opera è un omaggio ad Hubble Space Telescope (HST): è l’unico telescopio ottico orbitante intorno alla Terra. Lanciato nel 1990 con lo shuttle Challeger, oggi è ancora in servizio. Sono state necessarie modifiche e sostituzioni di parti ottiche ed elettroniche, con un lavoro nello spazio come mai era stato fatto prima. I risultati scientifici e fotografici sono eccezionali: mai avevamo visto l’universo con una qualità di immagine così alta. Tecnicamente è un telescopio Riflettore Ritchey-Chrétien, con un diametro dello spechio di 2,4 mt e una Lunghezza focale di 57,6 mt. |
The work is a tribute to the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is the only optical telescope in orbit around the Earth. Launched in 1990 with the Challeger shuttle, today it is still in service. Modifications and replacements of optical and electronic parts are needed, with a work space as never been done before. The scientific results and photographs are exceptional: we had never seen the universe with a high image quality as well. Technically it is a telescope Ritchey-Chretien reflector, with a mirror diameter of 2.4 m and a focal length of 57.6 meters. |
